Mindful Scholar

Mindful scholar. What does being a mindful scholar mean to you?

Mindfulness means awareness. Authors of the Mindful Way Through Depression list the following benefits for becoming more aware which leads us to the BEING MODE of mind.

Experience life without the unending commentary of thought. See our thoughts as mental events and not facts. Stop dwelling on the past and worrying about the future. Disengage from autopilot in our heads. Sidestep the downward spiral to depression. Be okay with what is instead of trying to force life to be a certain way.

As scholars, we do so much thinking and DOING. Developing our capacity for mindfulness can help us shift into greater awareness and BEING.

So we can give our thinking minds a break!

If you haven’t checked out Amanda’s blog, Mindful Path to the PhD, you need to! As a 4th year doctoral student in chemical biology, Amanda is finding mindfulness a total game changer in her life as a graduate student.

Follow Amanda @mindfulphdstudent 😊😊😊 We invite you to experiment with daily meditation to see how this practice might benefit you. We are hosting a group called “mindful scholar” on the @insighttimer app and would love for you to join!

Please share a comment if you already have a mindfulness practice because your experience can help encourage others.

If you’d like to get started, just try sitting for a few minutes each day and focus on your breath. We’ll do another post with more direction on getting started, but it can really be as simple as that + as simple as you need it to be.

Mindfulness has the power to reduce our stress, enhance our focus and live life more fully in the moment. Let’s support one another and share in this journey together. ♡
